Belle was so excited to see CC and the reverse was true too. We met her at her school's parking lot and then the whole family went inside and we did a presentation for her class. The teacher had a number of juggling items and so Jim gave the students juggling lessons. It was a lot of fun.
Later on we walked briefly around the town and explored a bit. Tomorrow we will do a more in depth exploration.
Cynthia is doing very well and is very happy. Her school and the town are beautiful. We have relatives (a cousin through marriage once removed) living nearby. So all is good.
We didn't intend for yesterday to be such a long drive. In fact we had hoped to cut it in half. But the dumb move by me injuring my RV (see last Blog entry) just took the air out of my balloon and we ended up staying at a hotel next to the gas station where I tweaked my RV's butt.
Yesterday morning I awoke early before the drive and drilled some holes, screwed in some screws and duct taped the loose fiberglass. Now that really gave the RV a touch of class. Since we were going to KY we hoped nobody would notice. Haha.
I should mention that the ladder on the back of the RV had rusted at the top connector and from the top rung to the connector at the top the bar is tied over and down so it wouldn't fall off in drive. Couple that with the duct tape and the bent up blinds (Belle got overly excited watching the kids play outside from the back window one day she destroyed the back blinds) and we were looking like a real Hillbilly wagon. While at a Flying J in the RV isle I noticed some of the duct tape was loose so I walked to the back with my handy duct tape roll to add an extra piece to hold it down when a real fancy new diesel pusher Motor home pulled in behind me. I nodded to him held one finger up to indicate I was only going to be a minute and then proceeded to tape the damage up. I swear I must have looked like trailer trash fixin' my rig. When I told everyone about it, including our waitress, at a Bob Evans, last night we all had a very long big laugh.
Today I set about to fix the sucker. I installed a new side light, bought a fiberglass repair kit for the side and set about searching for a fiberglass fabricator to replace the back section. In the mean time I replaced the grey duct tape with white. I also replaced the destroyed blinds and replaced a couple of latches and old parts here and there to make it look and work better. When we get to Bowling Green i will replace the ladder, the water tank release valve (destroyed in the incident) and a couple of minor other things. My hunt for the fiberglass panel will go on.
Oy, Vey!
There is a great antique-indoor flea market across from the RV Camp. Love those stores.
