The Drive!

Sorry for not posting yesterday.
My job nightly, among all the office work, after driving, it the blog and finding our route to wherever we are headed.  We were planning to go from MA to CT for a howdy to cousins and Pizza....and we did it.
Then we planned on going to Philly to see historic stuff....but Philly was getting pounced with thunderstorms. And we wanted nothing to do with more rain so we headed norhtwest and stayed at the  Yogi Bear Camp In Milton, PA.  Since it is after Labor day there were no themed activities so it was to bed early and an early rise (for us anyways).  We were on the road for what should be the longest drive until we get to Cali. It turned out to be an 8 hour drive to the middle of nowhere, Ohio. We are at the only RV camp in a million miles in the middle of corn and soybeans and mosquitoes.
It isn't a bad place but like many private tiny old rv camps it's tiny, old, and has mosquitoes.
The manager is very sweet and gave us a great rate. She is also just a genuinely nice lady.   She was away when we arrived so we just picked a spot.

Earlier this year, prior to the tour, I searched all over for a used small rv trailer to use as a bunk house for the boys. They have become hard to find.  Our tour has revealed why.  We are meeting many many many people who have bought them up and are using them as homes.  Rent at these tiny private parks is great and with the economy in the pits lots of people are making these little trailers their homes.  The number of long term or permanent campers has increased at least 200% over last year. Some are folks and families following construction or farm jobs around others are on gov't money. But While BO gives his talk tonight about why voting for him will fix all their woes I am seeing what amount to shanty towns popping up because people just can't afford a house or an apartment.

And since I am on a political rant I heard a Dem say today that BO has added thousands of jobs over the last 29 months straight.  It bothered me on two levels. First, I know that it hasn't been 29 straight months....maybe 29 months but not in a row. Second, there are less jobs in the US today than there were in 1982. There are 370million Americans and only 83million jobs and 42 million people getting food stamps. And all I hear from Dems is it was inherited and not their fault......the numbers don"t prove it out and that people can seriously say the things they do to support this amateur in office is driving me nuts. Over 500 fairs and festivals have vanished in the 3 years of BO's run. In fact, one fair that 2 weeks ago was talking to us about having one of our robots in October in FL emailed me today and due to sponsors pulling out the fair is now $10K in the hole before the event even opens the gates.

And the boos and jeers when God and Israel was put back into the Dem platform makes me wonder how anyone who says they believe in God could ever support such a party. Every Dem should just read any speech from any founding father and they will find a respect for the almighty regardless. I worry for our country when the godless take over.

There...that's my rant.

Tomorrow we finally leave eastern time and gain an hour. We are only heading out 4-5 hours into KY and I love KY.

On our drive to the camp today as we came down the tiny two lane country road we came to an intersection with a bridge out road closed sign. I called the camp but got no answer. So I got out of the Rv and while scratching my head started looking for alternate routes on the gps. About then an old car drove up with a teen with no shirt and his mom )short spiky hair in a tank top with tattoos up and down both arms. All stereotypes aside they both spoke clear polite English and kindly gave us an alternate route. They were great and even had us follow them up to the main turn off. Once we were on the road that would take us to the camp we were slowed by a truck picking up cones from construction work earlier in the day. But that was after I had made one bad turn that took us 4 miles out of the way.  It was like a script from a frustrating movie.

The gravel driveway was a half mile of 5 mile an our bumps and bruises.  The camp itself is as I described above.  But I am thankful for it as this area of Ohio has very few if any other rv camps.  The water has a light sulfur smell so we doing short showers and bottled water.

Well. That's it for now. ciao.
