The On Going Saga Recap of Summer Tour 09 and more

Word is the catalytic converter on the chevy is shot and it should be the end all of the van's problems that were basically a cascade caused by the fuel air mixture module dying. The end result was some problems with the injectors and the converter getting a nice dose of raw fuel. Jim and Nick should be heading back by Thursday. Today I am told they hung out downtown Waterbury, CT, went to a movie, a bookstore and the mall.

Miles, Cynthia and I pulled the show from the big trailer and loaded what we need for the Nevada shows into the smaller trailer. We take off Friday.

Mami has surprised all of us and has learned how to juggle and she is pretty good. We are hoping she and Jim can do club tossing with each other in future shows since it is our hope she and Titus (my disabled son) can travel and maybe even perform in the show....somehow. First we need to find a good RV...looking at the Sunseeker 3100!

In the last post I ended with Beech bend Park in Bowling Green, KY. Home to Mr. Duncan Hines. I wanted to mention that they want us back next year.
From there we had one day to get to New Paltz, Ny and we made it. Though rain would destroy fair attendance we still pulled crowds...even if it meant half the seats filled they were all that were at the fair. On the good weather days we pulled in full tents and NY crowds know how to be an audience. We were sticker shocked at NY prices for everything but CT would prove to be even worse. We tried a natural, no artificial flavor soda called Fizzy Lizzy with the logo reading, "Gently shack my hips, before putting to your lips." referring to gently shaking the bottle before drinking. Also while at the fair we were watched by a fair manager of a nearby fair who booked us on the spot for 2010.
From New Paltz we didn't even have a day before our next gig in Middleburry, CT began. it was a 2 hour drive the morning our first shows started so we awoke early and drove to Quassy Amusement Park. It's a bit smaller than Beech Bend and it has a target of 2-12 year olds. The stage was small but new and pretty. And at least we didn't have to set up our stage. We are told we drew the biggest audiences ever of any group that performed there. There is talk of us returning in 2010.
I forgot to mention that due to almost every gig we have either rebooked for next year or have be inquired and had to turn down or are considering several bookings for 09 and 2010.
Since CT is a blue state willed with either people on government dole or elitists I had to watch my mouth in regards to my humor. It wasn't until my last show that I let loose and that was mostly because my cousins and their families filled the audience. This show was also the very first time the broom illusion ran into un-savable problems. But with my humor and personality it came off fine.
Next up was 5 days off. And of course the first day Victor jr breaks his clavicle. Emergency rooms are nice. They slinged his arm and held it firm with an ace bandage and let us on our way. Today we visited his regular doctor here at home and he got a "figure 8" brace and told he shuld be all healed in 2 weeks...kids heal fast.
While off we did visit the Timex Museum (Timex was once Waterbury Clock Co). Watches are pretty much no longer made here in the States due to high labor costs. We also visited the graves and park that once held the home of the Eddie Foy and the Seven Little Foys. I have a kindred to him in that I perform with my kids in much the way he did. We also toured the back highways of CT and part of Ny as we avoided the insane hwy 95. We also visited our favorite pizza place in the world. A place we discovered in Naugatuck, CT (birth place of Naugahide and once home of the Almond Joy and Mounds candy...likewise killed by state taxes and high labor demands). The pizza at that little strip mall was incredible.

Onward to Maine.....will be the topic for tomorrow. Well, that and Princess Olivia's Bday!
