Laurel County----London Hot dogs, butterflies, snakes

Sick Cynthia being comforted by Buttercup.

To be honest I would rather be sleeping right now..it’s after 1AM.
Day one here at the Laurel County Fair….crowd numbers were low but we had good crowds non the less. We are inside the only building on the fairgrounds so if it rains( and it’s not in the forecast) we will be the only ones dry. Still the shows went very well and Kentucky audiences are great. The only low point is a very loud pneumatic ride that is right next to one of the buildings giant doors. It has a very loud rumble as it goes and it has an even louder wooshing sound as it raises and lowers the ride’s arms. Sometimes too loud….OK almost always too loud. Then the echo in the building only makes it worse.
Met many old friends from last year. Really nice folks.
Buttercup still doesn’t want to eat but we are trying to keep him from being overly stressed in hopes we won’t have to force feed him.
A guy I met last year has a 5 year old albino python that he wants to get ride of so we will look at it tomorrow.
Cynthia sat out the shows today feeling very under the weather. She was feeling much better later in the evening but we kept her down to assure good shows for her tomorrow. Also heard from home regarding her MRI and it turns out she has a torn tendon and will go under the knife in September. We are hoping a former assistant may be able to cover Cynthia’s shows in September.
We ate lunch at Weaver’s Hotdog…some of the best dogs in the country. It is our yearly tradition.
The three little ones and I went butterfly hunting and caught three fairly common specimens. It was a ton of fun.
The sun has been out all day and it hasn’t been too humid so I would say this da was a nice one.
There is a clown Circus also working the fair. It’s a father-son team and they are pretty good. They are relatively new to the biz and have a lot to learn but have a good foundation. You can tell b the pristine shape of their equipment they aren’t “workers” or “troopers” yet…but it will come. A ding or a scratch is a mark of longevity and honor.
We had to change hotel rooms today...turns out we had fleas that thought Amelia was tastely and bit her at least 20 times. The new room is out of Wi-fi RANGE...BUT NO FLEAS,\.
