Between shows two artists work on sketches.
Here is a shot of the antique carousel building we are using as our circus tent.

It can hold almost 300 people and we have peaked that a couple of times.
The Magic of Music act on the stage across the way.
Amy and Ollie with a Park Employee and a tree with a face.
Miles hard at work at the magic shop table.
Today was supposed to be a hot day...and it was. 95 degrees and nearly the same humidity.
We still had our standard duties of meet and greet as the gates open and then three shows with another hour of strolling between shows 2 and 3. Nothing out of the ordinary happened except that during the strolling hour and break time Victor (dad) discovered the adjoining campground's laundry-mat. Yup, the glorious world of show business....dirty socks, shorts and tons of sweat-in clothes. While they were being purged of their filth I took my butterfly net and went a-hunting around the grounds. I found a couple of sweet spots with specimens uncommon to California and dryer areas. I was able to catch a couple for out Kentucky diorama but the two I really wanted were too fast for my fat butt to catch. (excuse the description)
In between shows as the older kids reset the show or prepare for strolling the younger kids draw or play or watch the other shows near us. During the longer breaks they ride the various rides.
We also brought magic and novelties for sale after shows. Miles runs the shop. We use that income to pay for meals and supplies while on the road. Our show fees pays the mortgage, bills, and gas. Sales have been good and we are nearly sold out making it necessary to order more and have it shipped to our next stop in MN.
We discovered the "other side of the tracks" of Bowling Green. The newer part of town, where Home Depot, and a billion other shops and restaurants are. That was were we had dinner last night for Miles' Bday. (Usually we cook our meals in our room...Microwave, foreman grill, etc)
The older parts of town have a lot of charm but the convenience of the newer end is nice. We did without cinder-blocks for a couple of days so the Bed of Nails was cut. But the discovery of Home Depot has brought the stunt back into the show.
The heat has cost us a bit. The ice in our coolers melt fast; almost twice as fast as the same heat without the humidity. It has also forced us to buy a small fan for the animals and a larger blower for the tent. It also means no piece of clothing can be reused without a thorough launder.
I am happy to report that all the kids are doing well. They have the dream job....a show in an amusement park. They are well behaved and we hear daily from people who think they are just the greatest kids in the world. Makes me proud...but I know them when no one is looking. Still they're alright, if I do say so myself.
