We Made It to Courtland!

We made it to Courtland, and strangely there was only one courthouse in town. It was pretty but not so pretty that you would name a whole town after it.
The drive from Williamsburg was just about 90 minutes so you can't call it a grueling drive. In fact, one part of the drive was quiet cool. We got to drive under the James River. That's right under! They put a tunnel in....I suppose for big boats to go over...it is a naval area.
In the picture above Cynthia is readying for a very short stroll at the pre-fair dinner. Miles was the in the Penguin outfit, Jim on stilts (below pix) and Cynthia the clown.
The dinner was nice (picture of the meal). All home made. There was even a pastor who gave an invocation before the meal...how often do you see that in this godless age? It was awesome, a little devotional and a prayer. I figured they started this tradition as a way to witness to the carnies. Since it is not a public event and it is individually sponsored it is an ACLU-proof dinner.

There is a petting zoo near our stage area. Right next to us is a dog show from Florida. Seem like nice enough guys.
The fair itself is small. But we are out in the country. The accent here is really neat. Only 90 miles away everyone spoke with the nutural American accent. It is pure small town country out here and it is wonderful.
It was California dry heat all day today....but it was hot.
Below the girls' stuffed animals have a pic-nic.
