Bowling Green Home Search

Hog Jowls, collard greens, black eye peas, mushrooms, and butter are all it takes for a own home southern lunch. I cooked it today. Sayako and everyone loved it.
The goal of today was to house hunt and we had quite an adventure. We met Lana(Realtor) at 1pm and headed off to the house pictured here. It's an older Victorian and has soooo much charm. it surprised me how big it was inside over 300 sq feet. The layout is what blew us away. It was very much like the Winchester Mystery House in California with unusual rooms, closets and other features. i will detail those in a future blog. But some of these photos will give you an idea.

Can anyone say Amityville Horror.

No doubt for a magic family this place is perfect but being old some of the floors are on a slant and that gave Mami vertigo here and there. She is also still so much in love with the Berea House.
We visited three other homes, two were fast rejects. One was a junk heap covered over with trim, vinyl sides, a carpet. But there wasn't a plumb wall nor level floor in the place. It was pretty in many ways but there was hidden water damage and some of the craziest floors. The other was an "old peoples" home. It had the same carpet my folks have and the layout and design would be perfect for a couple but not a big family in spite of the four bedrooms.
The last house was on a 13 acre lot, most of it overgrown brush and woods. Perfect for kids. But the lower floor was like a theme park Disney Cave. Really hard to describe. The owner was a smoker but covered the smell with Fabreeze. There was also a garlic smell mixed in there. And did I mention cats? I will describe it in more detail later.
We were able to squeeze in shopping since Ed and Sayako return to Japan next week. We hit a couple of Halloween stores too. Always a great place to find costumes and props. Somewhere in there we fit a visit to the RV store to pick up parts for repairs and a quick lube place to get the van an oil change. It was a busy day and except for back pain midway through the shopping (you know the kind of pain that makes you a grump) everything was very vacation like today. Since there is a river and woods around our RV park the kids also spent much time running about nature.
