National Cattle Congress Day 1

Show business is glamorous. Since Cynthia left the circus for college, Sayako has had to learn her parts. So we had to practice the Foy Routine. Here we are behind our venue building practicing the routine. Our audience was made up of flies as we were right next to the dumpsters.

Making myself up to be beautiful.

There are at least three magic acts here. Here Olivia got to assist the great Rondini.

Here Amelia assists Rondini in his science show.

Mami watches us on stage as Titus contently watches the show from the stage. Eddie is in the background and Eric is in the foreground.
Today we woke up to really cold weather. It looked like it might rain but it didn't. But, as I said, it was cold. We needed jackets.
A bunch of schools showed up for our 10AM show. We kept the show down to 30 minutes remembering how the 45 minute show was too long for the schools due to their schedules. The 1pm and 4pm shows were more general public shows. All three shows had good showings for a Thursday "first day of the fair" day. We did the Foy routine with Sayako lip syncing Cynthia's parts. Since Cynthia wasn't there I had to do the "bed time story" gag and our rendition went well.
Eric and his dad (the magician and his pop from yesterday's blog) both came out to support us and to check out the other acts. Eric helped a bit with moving props and taking the little ones for walks in search of goodies in the Merchant building. It was great visiting with both of them. Since we haven't done the Foy routine in a while we didn't realize they were a bit dirty from the travels so Eric's dad, Vaughn, volunteered to take them to his house and wash them. These guys are seriously Christian-kind. Mami just told me a few minutes ago that these guys are giving a good name to Iowa.
I met Rondini, a magician-hypnotist from Wisconsin. He seems very nice. He is doing three acts, magic, science with magic and a mentalist-hypnotist show.
I also met a man who dresses like a tree-man (a giant latex costume while wearing stilts....I'll get some pix). Out of costume he looks like Ted Nugent and talks like a cross between a Berkley tree-sitter , a responsible conservationist, and a earth worshiper . In other words he's as weird as the rest of us entertainers....but in his own way.
Also reunited with sound man and friend Marty of Python Sound. He is a terrific man.
Oh, "America's Got Talent" has contacted me yet again (this makes the 4th or 5th time in as many years) about doing the auditions for the show. Once again I said, "no".
