Well, we all begrudgingly woke up around nine and ran around like crazy chickens to prepare for the day. We had to take the RV and the show trailer over to the park and set up for our 1pm show. I woke a little earlier to run over to Costco (which is right behind the hotel) and see if corporate members get to go in at 9 like all the other states' Costcos.....nope. I wasted a walk. Would've preferred a walk along a brook or a mountain trail.
Since this is not a business hotel, but a resort, and the b-fast buffet is laughably expensive we choose to risk the park having a b-fast on their menu. They did and when we arrived we ate. We had the time to eat because the previous act, a very prop heavy circus troupe (I saw photos of their act...very nice), had not finished backing up. So we ate.
By 10:30 we got our stage and set our gears to "mad rush" and had the whole thing ready to go by curtain time: 1pm.
The shows went very well. The last show started with around 8 people in the seats (the threat of thunderstorms left the park slow). By show's end we had around 45 butts in the seats.
Miles missed me with the whip in every show so I was as happy as a clam in jam about that. Victor Jr beat the crowd by escaping from the 100' rope in the $400 Rope Tie Challenge.
We were happy for a light day because w were all a bit tired from the marathon drive the day before. The cloudy skies kept the day cool, but not cold. No rain was a treat too.
CT drivers are not any different than last year, scary! Cashiers are he same too, they chat and complain and BS with other clerks while cashiering you. Prices are still high out here too. it's like there is a giant wallet vacuum in the sky above CT. However, we have learned where to go to save a little of our dough.
It was good to see the faces of acquaintances and friends from last year. Last year due to 22 lost days due to weather in June and a stressful rainy July there was a tight stressful feeling in the park. We all agree everyone seems so much more relaxed this year. The park is also starting construction of a wooden roller coaster and that is making for some excitement.. the truck loads of wood have started to roll in and they break ground this soon.
Mami and Titus stayed back at the hotel today. Mami wokred on laundry and then went for walks with Titus. He has his walker with him and she used it to allow Titus to locomote. They will stay back tomorrow as well since we have to wake early and drive down to New Haven for a TV shoot. We will be on CT Style, a state wide show. When the video is posted on their site I will post a link.
Well, it's bed time ...Cheers.
