102 to 69 in 60 seconds POISONED

OK...the headline is an exaggeration. But the temps are correct.  The long drought was blown to shreds today with 2 and a half hours of pure sheets of rain.  Our first two shows were in the heat of Kentucky. It reached 102 by the second show and sweat was pouring.
Sadly, at the first show I accidentally swallowed about a table spoon of fuel from my fire-eating routine.  It very rarely happens . In fact this makes only the third time in all the years of doing it.  I got cold sweats, nausea, and the trots from that little taste.
I recovered for the most part by the time the big rain hit about 2 hours before our last show.  But the rain started...first a sprinkle then a distance thunder sound.  Slowly the rain increased and turned torrential. The lightening came closer and closer until I am quite sure a few hit within the park. We opened up our shelter for park visitors to have a place to stay relatively dry. During the rain, that lasted over 2 and a half hours we entertained the crowd, gave away candy, did contests and interactive stuff.  All those years of doing VBS' and church camps paid off.
We got a special treat today. Our cousins from Clarksville, TN came up to visit. Jason and his two daughters, Haley and Hannah, came down and the kids had a great time together. Even when the rain started. They played in the rain since the pools and rides where closed during the lightening.
One thing I think is awesome is that the owner of the park kept the park open even after the storm. He personally checked each ride when it was over to make sure it was OK.  He believes that if a customer takes the time to come out they deserve to have the park open. So after the storm on went the fun and games.
