Crazy Wonderful Hot Day

Who would have thought that a day that started with a cold series of showers and thunderstorms would turn out to be over 100 degrees?  That was the start of our day.
We were all set to get to the fairgrounds to set up at 8:30 that changed when around 4AM i was awakened by rain (I sleep in the RV...it was hot so windows and vents were open). Hmmm.  I checked my phone's weather and I predicted it would all be over by 9:30 so we adjusted our schedule. And my prediction was dead on.  Except for one 3 minute cloud burst that happened 1 minute after arriving at the grounds.
The set up is odd for us. We are using their stage and space/traffic is limited. So one trailer and our RV are parked a couple hundred yards away as is the van, though we use the van to shuttle stuff early in the day.
The division of our stuff makes for a lot of back and forth and it is tiring...especially in this heat.   The pavement was way to hot to walk on mid-day. I mean it reflected heat and it made one weary in just a few yards.
Our hosts are very hospitable and we are being treated very well. They even bought us dinner (all 11 of us) at the best place to eat on the grounds.  It is a mini version of a restaurant in the town. The do chicken and they do it broiled. They have "Pit-tatoes" which are tiny potatoes cooked in the coals.  Delish!
Every show had packed seating and that surprised me because it was hot. The seats in the sun were the last to be taken but they were indeed taken.
Our first show was full of technical problems that the audience wasn't aware of but drove me nuts. Certain family members were over worked and certain members dodged working. I gets frustrating.  By second show we were at a better pace. Though it was a LOOOOOOOOOOOONG wait between show one and two.
Tomorrow we do a short thing for the seniors; mostly strolling. And then one show at 4pm.  If we are lucky we will be packed in before 7 and on our way. We have around 12 hours to drive tomorrow night to get to Le mars Iowa.

Here are some pix James took.
 Enjoying the aircon!

Flash mop of all the fair staff (some not all) in front of our stage.
